Barrwood
Barrwood is our local ‘nearly wild’ camping site near Denny. In total the Barrwood comprises 96 acres of camp sites and mixed forestry. During the Summer Season, 1st April to the 31st October, there is normally a weekend duty warden. During the off season, the water is turned off and the site is designated greenfield. There are self-composting toilets which remain open throughout the year.
Location – The campsite lies 2 miles north of Denny at NS 795870 on OS Sheet 57, or for those more familiar with google maps it is here.
Bridge of Allan Scout Group often camp at Green 5 which is a ten-minute trek from the main car park.
Invertrossachs (Loch Venachar)
Invertrossachs is a Stirling & Trossachs District Scouts run campsite and water activity centre approximately 7 km from Callander. It is located in the grounds of Invertrossachs Estate on the south shore of Loch Venachar, within the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park (O.S. sheet 57, MR 578 049). You can find it on google here.
Follow the loch south side road passing the Loch Venachar Sailing Club and the Ripple Retreat. The road becomes private just before the sailing club and there will be a barrier which will usually be open. If it is closed, please call a leader for the gate code.
Lochearnhead Scout Station
Lochearnhead Scout Station is the converted Lochearnhead railway station. As well as the old station there are several cabins for accommodation as well as space for camping. It is located here just off the A85 in Lochearnhead.
Fordell Firs
Fordell is the Scottish HQ for Scouts as well as providing indoor accommodation blocks, cabins and a number of camp sites. It is located near Dunfermline, here. As one of our Scout Association Activity Centres it’s particularly popular with the scouts for their extensive range of activities.
Meggernie
Tucked deep into Glen Lyon below Ben Lawyers is a wonderful campsite called Meggernie. It’s Google location is here. Like Fordell, as a Scout Association Activity Centre, it has a good range of activities.
Lapwing
Lapwing Lodge Outdoor Centre is West Region’s best campsite situated on the Gleniffer Braes above Paisley.
The Craigs
The Craigs Campsite is West Lothian’s main campsite with indoor and camping accommodation. It’s located here between Linlithgow and Bathgate.
